Recognizing power exchange dynamics that demonstrate integrity, education, and leadership within the BDSM community, the International Power Exchange Contest is open to pairs, poly dynamics, or triads who have been actively living their power exchange dynamic for at least one year.
This contest highlights authenticity, communication, service, and the ability to educate others about one’s dynamic in a healthy and constructive way.
Contestants are evaluated not on spectacle, but on knowledge, presence, and their commitment to ethical power exchange.
To Compete, You Must:
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be in an established power exchange dynamic for at least one year
• Arrive at Beyond Leather no later than Noon on Thursday of the conference weekend
• Complete all required application paperwork by the stated deadline
• Agree to photo usage for event promotion
• Not be under the influence of illegal substances or excessive alcohol during contest portions
• Have no outstanding warrants or current indictments
• Commit to fulfilling title responsibilities if selected
The IPE Contest uses an Olympic-style scoring system with seven judges. The highest and lowest scores in each category are discarded, and the middle five are counted.
Total possible score: 500 points
Minimum required to win: 70% (350 points)
Categories:
Educational Presentation (150 points)
Contestants deliver a 5–10 minute structured presentation explaining their power exchange dynamic, followed by audience Q&A.
Demo / Fantasy (100 points)
A staged demonstration reflecting the pair’s dynamic.
Interview (150 points)
Closed-door interview with judges assessing articulation, knowledge, and presentation.
Overall Image (100 points)
Judges evaluate professionalism, interaction, and authenticity throughout the weekend.
Title holders must:
• Teach at least four national events during their title year
• Return to Beyond Leather the following year to step down
• Continue serving as positive representatives of their dynamic
• Support future contestants and the community
